Creative Prodikeys at Cubic Electronics Official Opening

Dr Mahathir giving the Prodikeys a go!

Melaka, Malaysia - October 3, 2002 - With the official opening of Creative's biggest manufacturing facility in the world, Cubic Electronics, Creative Prodikeys was showcased along with many other Creative lifestyle digital entertainment products.

The auspicious event was officiated by YAB Datuk Seri Utama Dr Mahathir Bin Mohamad, Prime Minister of Malaysia, who was accompanied by YAB Datuk Seri Mohamad Ali Rustam, Chief Minister of Melaka.

Following Creative Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Sim Wong Hoo's opening speech on Cubic Electronics, it was truly an honour for Creative to have Dr Mahathir launch the i-Lab project with Creative Prodikeys. The i-Lab is a collaborative project between the Education Department of Melaka and Cubic Electronics.

In line with the Government’s plan through the Ministry of Education to set up computer labs in schools across Malaysia, the i-Lab introduces a new concept which combines both music and computer lab into one with the Creative Prodikeys.

With Creative Prodikeys, schools can set up their own integrated lab to be utilised for both the computer and music education for their students at a much lower budget. Schools will no longer have to shoulder heavy expenses on music instruments, face a shortage of music teachers or create additional space if PC desktop space already exists.

The Prodikeys resolves all that. It is affordable, and comes equipped with easy-to-follow tutorials to allow any new music student to pick up basic music skills effortlessly and make rapid progress through its guided courses. It is also a convenient replacement for the conventional keyboard.

Additionally, the Prodikeys makes learning and creating music much more fun with its exciting audio and music technologies. This will certainly be a big step forward for music education in Malaysia’s education system. The i-Lab project will first be implemented in schools in Melaka with Cubic Electronics assisting in the setup of the i-Lab in each of these schools.

The schools that have been identified to spearhead this project are:

  • Sekolah Kebangsaan Bukit Beruang
  • Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Bukit Baru
  • Sekolah Kebangsaan Tinggi Melaka
  • The implementation of i-Labs in schools in Melaka is just the start as Cubic hopes to bring about and create a new wave of learning music that is fun and affordable while inspiring students towards acquiring music education and computer technologies across Malaysia.

To demonstrate its immense potential, Product Manager of Creative Music Initiative Paul Seow wasted no time in introducing the Prodikeys to the audience. Opting for a Malay music style, he demonstrated the sheer ease of composing a song with the Prodikeys.

Paul added, “No matter how you play, you'll never go wrong!? The audience broke out into laughter, lapping up Paul’s performance and the wizardry of the Prodikeys with sheer gusto! They simply loved it!

Three students were then invited up on stage to perform on the Prodikeys. Led by Lew Kee Keong, they played harmoniously and smoothly to the audience’s delight. Afterwhich, Dr Mahathir was himself invited to play on the Prodikeys.

The day’s exciting event finally came to an end when Mr Sim presented a i-Lab plaque and a set of Creative Prodikeys to a beaming Dr Mahathir.
