Prodikeys Testimonial

Steve Sim started from humble beginnings in the early 80's living outside of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, making "pause tapes" (an early hip-hop "beat" creation technique). Steve has always been fascinated by sounds and how to create them. While most of his friends were getting their first set of drums or learning guitar,Steve was learning how to use a drum machine and sampler while "peeking and poking" around his trusty Commodore 64 trying to make it blip and bleep!

Now, Steve has finally turned his hobby into a great career! With vinyl releases on several respected techno labels (Metamorphic Recordings US, 240 Volts UK and Itiswhatitis Recordings Canada), and a full length CD with his band "Freshbread" on Warner Canada/HRM Records, it's a wonder how Steve finds time to write music outside of his full time job. Steve works in the day as a sound designer for BioWare Corp based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and spends his days making sound effects for hit video game titles like "Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic" and the popular expansion pack for Neverwinter Nights "Shadows of Undrentide". He spends his nights "looking for the perfect beat".

Steve has been a full time composer and sound designer for video games for close to 5 years. Currently, he has six titles under his belt with several high profile publishers (including Microsoft, THQ, Sega, Atari and LucasArts), and loves every minute of it.

"Wow! I was so glad to open the box of the Prodikeys, plug it in, install the software and be working again in literally minutes! It integrated seamlessly into my current system running Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum and my favorite music applications.

It is exactly what I've been hoping that someone would design. In my world, space is at a premium and I don't have room for a full size midi controller or even the desk space for one of the new fangled "micro" midi controllers. The Prodikeys fits in the space of a standard "ergonomic" type computer keyboard and has 3 octaves of midi keys to boot!

The "fun" button is cool. If I need a break from designing sound effects for the latest BioWare games, I just hit the fun button and have FUN! All the cool preset rhythms and sounds (especially the 70's disco and electric piano sounds) keep me entertained for those times during the day when I need a time-out.

The best thing for me was how well the Prodikeys works with my favorite software (Reason and Acid Pro). No longer do I have to fiddle with programming music notes on a "grid". I can just play them in with no latency! This helps me get ideas down quickly and easily with no fussing around."

"The Prodikeys is the perfect size for my slide out keyboard tray. Due to size restrictions in my home studio, my entire working space is only
1 meter (3 ft.) across!

I thought there was no hope for ANY size midi controller in that small space until I slapped the Prodikeys on my keyboard tray and (BAM!) finally a midi controller for the home rig!

My significant other especially likes that my music gear has not overtaken our whole living room like in the pre-Prodikeys days."
